Hurley, Wisconsin grew from a little mining settlement of 200 to become "The Most Infamous Little Town in America." Miners and Lumbermen flocked to this new land from across the midwest and Canada. From humble beginnings in 1884, the town grew to 7,000 people in three short years.

Along with Miners and "Jacks" came women, booze, gambling and thieves. Brothels and saloons lined both sides of famous Silver Street. Hurley would quickly gain the reputation of being "One of the three worst places on Earth." Hurley, Hayward and Hell, and Hurley is the worst of the three. Hurley would continue its controversial ways until the 1980's and make its mark on the American conscience.
